Schooner

Commissioned for the facade of a house the schooner, Meteor, was an actual schooner that hauled lumber from the Northwest to San Francisco. She was built in 1891 in the Pacific NW and was one of the last of an era of sail power.  The hull and spars were carved out of yellow cedar. Cavin found a picture of the Meteor under full sail which he used for the carving patterns above the waterline. The sails were hand cut out of brass sheeting and silver soldered to the masts.
